Producers
The Consortium for the “Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio” has 39 members. In terms of certified quantity, the representativeness of the social structure has reached 75% of the total compared to the overall data provided by the Ministry and the supervisory bodies.
With the exception of a few large production companies, the associated farms are mainly family-run. They are women and men who grow the Vesuvius tomatoes, united by the same passion for their work and their land.
They come from peasant families who have handed down, from generation to generation, small plots of land as well as myths and beliefs which have gradually been giving way to scientific and academic knowledge.
Today, the producers of the Vesuvius are expert professionals, guardians of traditions and biodiversity, and connoisseurs of modern production processes, who are attentive to sustainability and the total quality of the product, and are well capable of facing the competitiveness and challenges of the market.
